Foundation Level Sabbatical Scheme

The University of Wales Trinity Saint David was responsible for writing and trialling this course between 2010 a 2012 and is now responsible for provision across mid and south west Wales. This includes courses provided in Brecon, Carmarthen and Swansea. The course was written for Primary Welsh Second Language Teachers. The aim of the course is to create teachers who speak and understand the language and to develop their confidence to use Welsh in a variety of contexts within the school. The course is an intensive course and is taught over an 11-week period at the university. It includes opportunities to observe good practice in a variety of schools.

This course is aimed at primary teachers with some knowledge of the Welsh language, who wish to learn useful and relevant language patterns for the classroom.

This course has been a fantastic opportunity to improve my Welsh language skills. The tutors have been helpful and have encouraged us to progress further. I have attended other Welsh courses, but this has been the only one where I feel I have continued to progress throughout the course.
